Explore the 2017 Golf Alltrack
If you’re a fan of the Volkswagen Golf, you’ll be pleased to know that the new Alltrack version of this sporty vehicle is set to go on sale in fall 2017. Get to know what the all-new 2017 Volkswagen Golf Alltrack has to offer.
Golf SportWagen Base
The Volkswagen Golf Alltrack starts with the Golf SportWagen base, VW’s versatile crossover that has the space of an SUV and the handling of a much smaller vehicle. For the all-new model, the German automaker adds 4MOTION all-wheel drive to substantially improve handling. In typical road conditions, the Alltrack drives like a front-wheel drive vehicle. The moment the 4MOTION system detects tire slippage, however, the vehicle shifts to all-wheel drive. The 4MOTION system can shift up to 50 percent of drive torque to the rear wheels to enhance grip and keep the vehicle’s wheels on the road.
This advanced system also interacts with the Alltrack’s electronic stability control system, which applies brake pressure when it detects slippage. At the same time, it transfers power to the opposite wheel to ensure stability.
Like related Golf Sportwagen models, the Alltrack has a 1.8-liter four-cylinder TSI engine that kicks out 170 horsepower and 199 lb-ft of torque. When it first appears on the market, the all-new model will have a six-speed automatic transmission. Volkswagen plans to introduce an available manual six-speed transmission at a later date.
Some of the most highly anticipated aspects of the all-new Alltrack are its off-road capabilities. With distinctive cladding on the bumper and wheel wells and an additional inch of ground clearance, the Alltrack looks much more like an off-road vehicle than the similar SportWagen does.
The Alltrack is about more than just looks, though. Its Drive Mode selector features an Off-Rode Mode that gives the crossover vehicle the ability to tackle hills and challenging terrain like a pro. When it’s in Off-Road Mode, this all-new model takes advantage of hill descent control and traction control that’s optimized for off-road driving.
Ample Cargo Space
Similar to other crossovers and compact SUVs, the Alltrack has ample cargo space. When the rear seats are in use, the vehicle has just over 30 cubic feet of cargo space. With the rear seats fully folded, however, the Alltrack’s cargo space more than doubles, with 66.5 cubic feet of space.
Convenient Driver Assistance Features
Whether you’re driving through your neighborhood, down the highway, or off-road, the VW Alltrack has all the driver assistance and safety features you need. Along with six airbags, this all-new vehicle has an Automatic Post-Collision Braking System, an Intelligent Crash Response System, Lane Assist, Adaptive Cruise Control, and Autonomous Emergency Braking. No matter where you’re headed, you can rest assured that the all-new 2017 Volkswagen Alltrack will get you there stylishly and safely.
