Future All-New Volkswagen Atlas
The Volkswagen Atlas made its debut in 2016 at the LA Auto Show, and the brand has made consistent improvements to an audience interested in a mid size, mid priced utility vehicle. The future of the Atlas brand looks bright, as Volkswagen continues to add features that packs even bigger ideas into a mid size body.
Full Size Features in a Mid Size Body
The Atlas now holds 3 rows of roomy seats that seat 7 easily with 96.8 cubic feet of trunk space with the seats folded. The third row can also be easily accessed with a simple lever that folds the second row of seats, a feature that is especially relevant for families in need of a child safety seat. The cargo space can also be modified to help with chunky luggage.
The Atlas stands 198.3 inches long, 77.9 inches long and 69.6 inches wide, but you would not know it from the look of the exterior. The bottom line: You get a great look with plenty of room for whatever you need to transport.
A Family Car With a Sporty Look
Choose from a silver, platinum gray, tourmaline blue, kurkuma yellow, fortana red, black pearl or beige metal metallic finish. A sleek body line with a strong, distinguished grille help to give the Atlas a great look standing still or moving. Although the trunk space is massive, you wouldn’t be able to tell from the outside, with a balanced look that almost resembles the shaping of a tall Cadillac coupe.
LED headlights and a body style that stands almost regally over the wheels combine function and style that is more indicative of a sporty coupe than a family SUV. The sporty look is extended around back with a twin exhaust and a beautiful roof line.
The digital cockpit in the Atlas gives you all of your basic features – fuel consumption, speed, nav display, Driver Assistance – in an incredible 12.3 inch high tech display. Combine this with an 8 inch touchscreen that controls your information and entertainment, and you have a fully digital and easily accessible interface for every major function of your car.
You also gain new driving technology with the proprietary Driving Mode Selection. The Normal, Custom, Sport and Eco modes give you four different modes of driving for different environments. Driver Assistance features include a blind spot monitor for safer lane changes, a front assist camera to avoid rear end collisions and pedestrian monitoring to keep you from running into smaller objects that you can easily miss. Pedestrian monitoring make use of automatic brakes to ensure that you make no mistakes if someone is headed your way. Park steering assist rounds out the safety feature set that ensures that handling this powerful piece of machinery is as easy as a small sports car.
